Founders: The Zlín Region and the university
The Tomas Bata University in Zlín and the Zlín Region. These two subjects play an important role in the development and support of innovative business in the Zlín Region. That’s why in 2005 they joined forces and founded the Technologické inovační centrum s.r.o. (the Technology Innovation Centre)
The Tomas Bata University in Zlín prepares human resources and conducts basic and applied research. The Zlín Region, being a higher territorial self-governing unit, is responsible for developing the region. The joining of both these partners creates conditions for fulfilling society’s goals.
Support for innovative business
The main goal of the Technology Innovation Centre is to create conditions for the creation and development of innovative companies, for utilising the results of research and development in business practice with an emphasis on high-tech technologies, and for the development of new fields, technologies and services.
Also important is its role in creating tools for the support of innovation activities that will allow the stimulation of economic growth and prosperity in the region, increase the competitiveness of local companies and will contribute to the creation and preservation of highly qualified workplaces.
The mission of this company is to create a background and space for:
- development and support for innovative businesses in the region
- the opportunity to create cluster initiatives
- commercially oriented scientific and technological research
- the utilisation of university research results in business practice
SVTP accreditation. The Technology Innovation Centre is an accredited member of the Company of Science and Technology Parks in the Czech Republic. In 2007, it received the prestigious Business property with the greatest contribution to the development of applied research for the year 2006 award.
The association of innovative entrepreneurship. Technologické inovační centrum s.r.o., in March 19, 2009, was charged with representing the Association of Innovative Entrepreneurship of the Czech Republic for the Zlín Region. The Association of Innovative Entrepreneurship of the Czech Republic is a non-governmental organisation in the field of innovative entrepreneurship, technology transfer, and science and technology parks.
The innovation infrastructure of the region. In 2009, a network called the Innovation Infrastructure of the Zlín Region was founded by the Technological Innovation Centre along with other subjects – The Agency for Economic Development of the Vsetín Area, The Business Incubator of Kunovice – Panský dvůr, The Regional Cooperation Centre, The Regional Support Source, Tomas Bata University in Zlín, The University Institution, and the Business Centre of Valašské Klobouky. The aim of the cooperation of the regional network is mainly the development of collaboration between the business incubators, science and technology parks, and the centres for technology transfers in the region, and building a network of expert consultancy services in the field of innovation.
